Getting Started
This walkthrough takes you from an empty app to an exported PDF.
1. Open the app and log in
Open the Typoteka app and log in with your account.
2. Choose a content source
In the GitHub Source panel, pick where your book content comes from:
- Connect a repository: Typoteka reads book content directly from a repository that has a
typoteka.jsonfile at its root. - Use a local source: open Markdown files from your own machine.
3. Pick a style
Choose a book style from the Style menu. The style defines the look of the finished book.
4. Preview
Typoteka paginates your content into pages in the browser.
TIP
Pagination runs in your browser, so larger books take a little longer to finish. Wait for the preview to settle before checking the result.
On-screen controls help you inspect the layout. They are preview aids only and do not change the exported PDF:
- Fit-to-width / zoom: scale the pages to your screen.
- Spread / single page: switch between a two-up spread and a single-page arrangement.
- Bleed guide: toggle a guide that shows the page bleed.
5. Export
When the layout looks right, choose File → Print / Save PDF. This uses the browser's print to produce your print-ready PDF.
